What Are the Advantages of LED Television?

Television technology has evolved tremendously with the passage of time and the LED Television is the latest breakthrough in the technological advancement in Television. LED televisions belong to the family of LCD TVs but they enjoy a number of advantages over the traditional LCD monitors.

The following are some of those advantages:

· LED TVs offer superior picture quality over their LCD counterparts. The traditional LCD televisions always have their backlight on when the TV set is on. In order to create black or dark areas the screen it must block the light by meandering the crystals to a closed position, often resultant in a lower contrast ratio and less detail in dark areas of the picture. This is a shortcoming in LCD technology that LED TVs with local dimming are attempting to correct. With the controlled backlighting the LEDs can be dimmed in dark areas of the picture to create darker blacks and better detail in dark scenes

· The second advantage of LED TV sets is that they consume less power. In most cases they consume lesser power than Plasma screen TVs and LCD TVs. This is a big advantage and can help you immensely.

· Another advantage of these TV sets are that they are regarded as more sustainable. They have the prospect of a longer life then Plasma TVs and also traditional LCD sets. Another important thing is that unlike the CCFL backlights, LED sets use no mercury in their manufacture.

· Eco friendliness is another advantage of this newer form of television technology. They also aim to lessen the problem of TV disposal in future course and try to address the problem of environment pollution.
